“At least the staff was nice”

The room I reserved with 2 queen beds had something wrong with it, so we were "upgraded" to a king bed & a fold out couch. I was hoping my kids would be impressed by the fold out. They weren't. Neither was I. I had to ask for pillows for the fold out...and more towels since there were 3 of us and not enough provided. The staff (housekeeping & front desk) were very nice...but they didn't have a lot to work with. The towels were frayed on the edges. The room came with a fridge & microwave, but the fridge was too small to fit a leftover box (we stood it on end) and the microwave was the twist the knob timer type. Not bad, just surprising. The pool (pick up your towels at the front desk before going in) had an unnerving note on it about showering before and after using the pool for everyone's health. There seemed to be a stinky odor from the hot tub. It was very crowded with high school girls when we were there, so it wasn't a big surprise that the complimentary breakfast was chaos. The surprise came with a sign on the fridge that gave cooking instructions to reheat the refrigerated omelets and sausage. I'm generally used to the complimentary breakfast already being cooked. (Except the make-your-own waffles....but the batter was stored no where near the waffle makers. Thank goodness I had all the teenagers making waffles before I did, so I could watch.)The staff was very nice, though. When there were no luggage carts available, they offered to help carry our luggage up to the room. They were very friendly and definitely the best part of the hotel.
