“Extremely Poor Management & Service”

The hotel is located in Martinsville, Virginia, where luxury hotels do not exist. This hotel however, was clean and on point for the cost. The problem I had was with the management and customer service folks at the desk. I called three days prior to checking in and confirmed accomodations for the three rooms I had booked...inquired about the pool and breakfast. Upon arrival, I noticed that the pool did not have water, was in poor repair, and had dog crap lining the fence around the pool. I told the front desk clerk that this presented a problem for me, since this was a vacation and my children were looking forward to swiimming. She advised that the pool was filling up and would be operable the next day. It was not! It wasn't operable, until the third day of our stay, and it looked so disgusting, I would not have allowed a stray dog to swim in it. I should mention that I inquired with the front desk daily, and they kept saying it would be ready, which prevented me from switching to a hotel with an operable pool. Finally, I decided to check out two days early. Prior to checking out, I made sure to discuss this with the manager, as well a couple of problems with our room, the tub had a leak, when you shower, water pooled on the bathroom floor. Also, the toilet paper holder was not screwed to the wall. --Something real simple that the manager, "Jeffrey" could have fixed. However when I reported it to him, he looked at me like a deer in headlights, offered no solution or interest in solving. He also never offered to move us to a room with a working tub! I really felt as if my entire trip was runied. I was scheduled to stay at this hotel for six nights....I trimmed it down to four. I left without an apology or any satisfaction for the issues. This hotel could do itself a favor by hiring a manager with more experience and perhaps a customer friendly attitude. Also, don't even think the Assistant Manager, "Ray", could step up, she was the worst of all the employees, in regard to customer service. The front desk clerks India and Jessica were a bit more friendly than the manger or assistant manager.
