The hotel is nice and new. They have a great cable TV channel lineup, but the channels are not necessarily as they have them listed. Their breakfast is great, and free with the room. Waffle maker, biscuits and gravy, sausage patties, hard boiled eggs, and bread and small bagels, butter, cream cheese, and jellies. Also juices and coffee, all until 9am, which seems to be when all hotels stop their breakfast. The location was great for me because my family lives right by there. Otherwise I'd say it is a little removed from the shopping and dining part of Tyler. The bed was too firm for me - I had lower back pain the whole week when I woke up and throughout the night. The chair should have an ottoman but it doesn't. But the chair is quite comfortable. They have a moveable bench in the closet area that you can move out to serve as an ottoman. Shower water pressure is way too low. The cleaning crew woke me up one morning at 9:40. The room did not have a "do not disturb" sign in it at first, so I did not have one on the door. Regardless, when they attempted to get into the room that morning to clean it, and discovered my chain lock was locked, then they should have just closed the door and moved on and come back later. But they chose to knock on the door, wake me up from a nap, and ask me if I wanted my room cleaned. I thought this was a bit aggressive since check-out isn't until 11:00am. The next day, the alarm clock was magically set for noon. I never set it. And one night my key card got lost in the door - the card reader ate it basically. But the staff was able to get me into the room, however, instead of giving me a new room that I could get back into should I need to leave, they kept me in that room until they could fix the lock in the morning. They were nowhere close to full that night, either. Also, I wanted a room on the first floor, but they said they didn't have any. I was there for 4 nights and only one night did it look close to full. I'm not sure what kind of rooms are on the first floor, but apparently not king bed rooms. Overall great hotel. I received a discount for booking 3 or more nights and that dropped the price to basically lower than all surrounding hotels by quite a bit. I would have had to stay on the north side of town to get a better rate than what I had. But be careful, if you want to add a night at the hotel, and you have a special rate from online, you can't get that rate in the hotel.
