“Disappointing, but not surprising”

Having read the reviews, I was not surprised that given the family-oriented nature of this hotel that the noise levels were high. Kids were slamming doors for hours, but again, this was expected. What I didn't expect, having called directly to get a double-queen room, knowing that rooms were tight in the La Crosse area for this time period, was that they can't count inventory, and I got stuck with a single king with a pull-out sofa bed. The gal at the counter did everything she could, including discounting the room, but I knew the pull-out bed would be trouble. Sure enough, it was cloth-covered steel springs, and not even close to being level. I challenge ownership or management to withstand even five minutes of contact with this alleged mattress. Further goodness ensued as a previous guest, (I assume), hacked into the computer system, and so we had no internet. The new employee was valiantly calling support to restore the system, so again, good effort was being made. Naturally, the ice machine had what looked to be a permanant "out of order" sign. The good times continued the next morning when my wife attempted to get hot coffee. A power outage had tripped half the equipment in the kitchen area, and the gal had no idea had to reset the power strip. After my wife oversaw the reset, order was restored and she not so patiently waited for the coffee to get warm. On the plus side, the bathtub drained properly, the new guy gave good instructions to the restaurant, and I learned a valuable lesson about this facility.
