“should have stayed elsewhere”

I made my reservations online. Somehow, it double booked the reservations. Also, I never received the confirmation email that I should have. Angela was at the front desk when we arrived. She was exceptionally helpful and very friendly. Based on that, I thought that we had made a good choice. However, friendly front desk personnel was the only positive aspect of our stay. The room was very crowded (very little space to walk through between the bed and television). The air conditioner never did feel like it was working properly. The bathroom in particular was so hot that it was almost unbearable. There was no additional seating like you have at most motels (a small table and a couple of chairs). There were dead bugs in the bath tub. The pillows smelled bad. The towels were not restocked when the room was cleaned. The toilet stopped up and we had to call the front desk twice before they sent someone. Then, the housekeeping person just handed my 13 year old son the plunger to fix it. The area feels very unsafe and there is a sign posted to "park at your own risk". It feels as though you are taking a huge risk being there. I found a large piece of glass in the hallway. I took it to the front desk and suggested that they have someone clean so that no one would be injured. As I walking back to our room, I found at least 5 more small pieces of glass. The man at the desk said that someone was supposed to clean it but apparently had not. I would expect that a hazard like that would be extremely important to take care of properly. The breakfast left much to be desired. The advertised "assorted fruit" was a few bananas and a couple of small apples. There is one waffle maker with a timer set for 3 minutes. This leaves everyone waiting in a long line to make waffles (which aren't cooked through after 3 minutes anyway). A small investment of at least one additional waffle maker would make a huge difference. The only positive comments that I can share are that it is nice to have so many restaurants near by and the employees at the front desk were great. Unfortunately, those things are not enough for me to spend my money there again. The price was about average for the area (I shopped around a lot). But, the motel was far below average.
