“November Stay at the Baymont”

My family stayed at this Baymont Inn several years ago. It was not a great hotel, but it was pretty good so I did not hesitate to stay there again. I received an email offering me a free night if we stayed two nights. We had already planned to visit Houston the weekend before Thanksgiving, so I was happy to receive the offer. I reserved two rooms stating that it would be for two adults and my two children. We arrived at the hotel and entered the lobby only to see and hear staff discussing a guest in one of the rooms. They did not stop discussing this guest when we approached the desk. I felt like this was unprofessional. I saw the manager outside before we went into the lobby and thought he must be a guest by the way he was dressed, only to find out he was the manager. We requested adjoining rooms so my children would have direct access to us, but the manager only laughed and said there was no way. I had the reservation for about one month when we took the trip, so I would have thought that the hotel would have taken that into consideration before our arrival. After a while, they did find us two rooms next door to each other. The rooms left a lot to be desired. There was black mold growing in the bathrooms. When housekeeping cleaned our rooms, they did not replace towels and washcloths. When I called the front desk to ask for more, they told me that I had to come to the desk to get them. No one would bring them to us. The hotel provided a "continental breakfast" for their guests. My husband and I went to breakfast about 8 a.m. to find that the hotel's idea of a "continental breakfast" was a bowl of cereal or bread that could be toasted. The juice machine was broken. It was not clean. We probably should have checked out and gone to a different hotel, but we stayed and thought it would get better. It did not. My family will not stay at this Baymont Inn ever again.
