“Poor service, broken amenities”

We arrived at 4:30pm, 1.5 hours after our check-in time (after an 8 hour drive from Michigan). Our room was not ready, and we were not offered a room that was vacant and clean. So, we negotiated with the customer service person. We were able to get into a room, but we had to give up our King bed and large bathroom. We were never offered any type of discount or compensation, even though it was the hotel's fault, totally and completely. On top of that, there were two problems with our room that were never addressed, even after they were reported.First, the toilet lid was broken, and it would not stay open.Second, the shower drain was clogged to the point that we were standing in 3-4 inches of water after a 5-10 minute shower.When I return to visit Cedar Rapids in the future, I will not visit this hotel, and I will do everything I can to let people know of this miserable experience and terrible customer service. On top of all that, the fitness center equipment was broken. The exercise bike didn't work, and neither did the treadmill. One piece of equipment did work, but the climate control in the room was awful. It was heated to over 80 degrees! What a terrible experience.
