“Screwed up our booking!”

We booked a King Non-Smoking Suite 2 weeks ahead of time. When we arrived we were told our room was not ready yet. We asked how long it would be. We were told about an hour. We waited the hour and came back in. We paid and went up to our room. When we got to our room it was a regular King Non-Smoking room(NOT A SUITE). I went downstairs again and asked about our suite. They said that others had decided to stay and there was not a suite available for us. I asked how come I was charged the same price as a suite for a regular room. They told me our room was a mini suite? I asked what a mini suite was. We were told it had everything a suite has (couch etc). However our room was exactly like the picture of the regular King room not the picture of the suite(no Couch etc.). It took some time for them to reduce our room to the regular room rate. If we had not noticed and had not continued to press the issue we would have been charged the price for a suite. A hotel should know which rooms are Suites and which rooms are regular rooms. This amounts to either deception or incompetance upon the part of the hotel and/or the staff.
