“Worst hotel stay in 5 years.”; Feb 14, 2013 Scott W, Chagrin Falls; Entry door between hallway and room groaned very loudly every time door opened or closed. Several broken floor tiles in bathroom right where you have to step to access toilet or shower. Floor was unsteady due to broken tiles. I covered floor with towels to avoid myself and my daughter cutting our feet on edges of broken tiles. Broken ceramic tiles have extremely sharp edges. Can you imagine the germs between the broken tiles? Can you imagine the infection you would get in a cut from broken tiles around the toilet and tub? Could not change rooms because the hotel was full. Bathroom was very small and poorly designed. You had to maneuver just to close the bathroom door once inside. Bathroom door did not latch shut no matter how hard you pushed it. Room was dirty on floor and surfaces. Reached under pillow first time and found piece of cookie. Soundproofing was terrible. Late at night I heard running and shouting in hallway and went out in hall to demand quiet and no one was there. Turned out it was one floor above. Heard conversation in adjoining room like there was no wall separating and they were not talking loudly. Had to wear earplugs to sleep. Mine was part of group reservation with 18 year old girls' volleyball team. Girls liked pool area. Complimentary breakfast was a little better than average with hot items like eggs and sausage. Liked multi-flow shower head. Was going to use fitness room, but my friend tried it and said it was too small and equipment was poor. Overall, though, quality of stay was substandard. Quality was much lower than your average Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Fairfield Suites, or Country Inn & Suites. More on par with Motel 6 or Red Roof Inn. Upon checkout, staff did not inquire as to whether I enjoyed my stay. I told them everything in this review. Manager was present, and his response was "Thank you for your feedback." Manager said he had heard that there were broken tiles in bathrooms, and was glad to know my room number. My thought was if you already knew you had a dangerous and undesirable situation with broken floor tiles, why didn't you go find out which rooms and fix the situation? No staff apologized or expressed concern about my dissatisfaction. Between business and my daughter's volleyball team, I have stayed at least 25 nights in hotels each of the past 5 years. This was the worst in 5 years.
