“A couple of minor issues”

Generally speaking, the accommodations at this hotel were decent if unremarkable, but there were two chronic problems that marred the experience. The first was the faulty handle on the door of the room I was staying in. The problem with the handle, which was loose, impacted the key card lock system; on average, it took me 3-5 attempts to open the door with each insert of the card in the slot. This was obviously a known problem on the part of the housekeeping staff, because when I tried to enter the room for the first time, a maid who was cleaning a room down the hall saw that I was having a problem and came over to assist me and told me that "that door is really temperamental." While I appreciated the help, if the staff knows that there's a problem with the door handle, the management surely does as well, and the problem really should have been dealt with as a routine maintenance matter, rather than essentially forcing guests to deal with it. The second problem was an issue with the hotel's wireless network. Using my laptop, I could easily recognize the hotel's multiple routers, but for the life of me I couldn't establish network connectivity. Thus, I couldn't access the Internet from the hotel during my entire stay, which was a major, major inconvenience. I told the front desk attendant who was present immediately after check-in about this problem, and while she was cordial, she was of no help whatsoever in solving the problem or in recommending anyone else who might assist. I was basically told that the problem was on my end and that the network was up and running properly. I'm highly experienced with Wi-Fi and I pulled out every troubleshooting trick in my playbook to no avail. I was further chagrined when I made a short trip to a nearby McDonald's with its own free, unsecured wireless network and was immediately able to establish Internet connectivity without any special techniques applied. I subsequently was able to easily establish full connectivity with five other unsecured wireless networks within a half-mile radius. The ONLY network that prevented me from connecting to the Net was the one at the Baymont Inn, which I view as smoking gun evidence that there was something unique about the Baymont network--and not in a good way. Unfortunately for me I wasn't close enough to any other wireless networks in the area to pick them up from my room, so this was a major issue for me during my stay (which lasted parts of five days).
