“Great Staff, But...”

All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. In fact, the staff opened the Saturday breakfast at 6 AM instead of 7 AM because our group was one of two U16 soccer teams filling the hotels. I compliment them and would welcome their presence at any hotel. However, the hotel itself shows quite a bit of wear and, in some cases, neglect or simple overlooking issues. My room did NOT have any bath soap or shampoo...even the tray or basket in which they would be found was non-existent. Upon picking up the phone to call the desk, there was no dial tone. Thus, I walked down to the desk where Emily provided the supplies and was very apologetic. More significant, the room ceiling had off white lines that appeared to be the tape along the drywall joints. There were dark marks on the ceiling coming from the smoke alarm.The gap along the wall where the bathroom floor tile meets the wall should be caulked. Otherwise, this area becomes an open invitation for mold. My wife, a fabric expert who teaches the subject at the university level, complained about the sheets. She stated that the sheets were synthetic, not cotton, that caused her to perspire all night. Several team families also mentioned that the beds were too hard. I agree. I did ask about ownership of this hotel and was informed that the owner lives in New York. Perhaps he or she should visit this property more often. Overall, there are too many other low to medium cost hotels who want our team money for us to stay here again. I just wish the best for the staff who deserve to have a better offering for their guest.
