“Front Desk clerk was unprepared to work the desk”

I arrived at 10:15 PM with a room already reserved. No one was at the front desk. No bell to ring, no phone to use to call for assistance. I waited, then I called out, "Hello" several times. I was on my way back out to my car to get my cell phone and call the hotel when the clerk showed up and said, "I was in the bathroom." Everyone has to use the bathroom, but he could have placed a sign on the counter telling guests that he would be right back or something. As it was, I was left standing there for three-four minutes without a clue what was going on. If I hadn't had a reservation, I would have taken my business to another hotel instead of waiting around like I did.Even after he began to check me into the hotel, he ran into a problem he did not have the knowledge to solve and I had to wait while he called someone on the phone who had to explain to him how to do his job. It took me fifteen minutes to check in, which I think is way too long when I was the only customer at the desk.
