“Good low-mid price stop in Jackson, MS”

First, the good stuff-very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Fresh warm chocolate chip cookies when you check in. Each room has microwave and refrigerator. There's a supply of USA Today newspapers in the lobby area each weekday. The included breakfast has a wide variety of foods, comparable to what you would get at a full restaurant buffet. Now for the not so good. The sign said "under new management" so some of the deficiencies observed may be scheduled to be addressed soon-overall, a great property, but a little worn around the edges. The sink faucet in the room was missing its little screen, so you were nearly drowned with water each time you used it. The TV remote used some kind of small auxiliary box that you had to aim the remote at; even after a visit by the front desk person, it still would not allow the TV to be turned off or the volume adjusted via remote. The picture quality was, however, among the best I have seen in any motel. The elevators were in need of cleaning, new floors and either replacement lamps or new fixtures as the existing ones flickered extremely-the bezels were also missing from around the floor number display, giving an overall shabby appearance to the elevators. The girl in charge of the breakfast area lacked motivation and was doing a poor job of keeping supplies (forks, spoons, napkins) and food items replenished. It was great to have a computer with attached printer in the lobby area for guest use, but it had been so badly infected with viruses, malware, and pop-ups that it was virtually useless-I never could get it to print anything, which is the main thing I needed it to do. When asked how my stay was, I reported these things just to be sure they were aware of them, not necessarily expecting any compensation, and was pleasantly surprised when they voluntarily took $20 off my bill for the "inconvenience". That doesn't happen too often!
