“She checked us into someone else's room!”

Since we checked in late, the lobby was locked. The after hours window has a speaker hole that is way to tall for someone 5'3" and the front-desk clerk and I could barely hear each other through the glass. She gave me a key and room number. I took the key to the assigned room and it worked...the only problem was that room was occupied by a man lying in bed watching TV! What a startling experience for both of us! I returned to the front desk and the clerk casually apologized, mentioned that she didn't know that room was rented and gave me a new room assignment and key. She didn't seem too concerned. It was difficult to sleep wondering if she was going to check someone else into our room next! The room had a funny smell. Decor was a bit antiquated. The free breakfast didn't look very appetizing so decided to pass.
