“Very Disappointing”

We stayed for a week while visiting family. We looked around, and, sadly, this was the best option. The pool was "closed temporarily" during our entire stay. Our smoke alarm started "chirping" (battery dead) the second morning. The front desk person asked if "I wouldn't mind just removing the battery, and she would send the maintenance person to our room as soon as he got in." (The alarm kept chirping after I removed the battery, so, not being able to sleep anymore, we got up and left.) We came back to our room at noon, and found the alarm still chirping. The front desk person came to our room, hopped up onto our bed, and replaced the battery. (He then apologized (!) for having to stand on our bed.) We heard several other alarms chirping on our floor the rest of the week, which did not make us feel very safe.... The workout room was dirty and meager (3 machines). The universal weight machine had the wrong seat attached, so it was not very useful. Our "non-smoking" room reeked of smoke. Another family member stayed in a room across the hall, and their "non-smoking" room smelled just as bad.The door to our room looked open when it was shut. Light from the hallway poured in from all around the sides. (The doors had obviously been replaced and did not match the door jams/openings.) The bathroom had a number of mildew stained areas, which was understandable since our room was not regularly cleaned each day. A big storm moved in the day before we were leaving (flight from Atlanta), so we asked to check out (late) a day early. They initially refused, but called us later, and to their credit, gave us a partial refund. Due to its location, you cannot turn left out of the hotel, so we had to make a difficult maneuver each morning when leaving the hotel to go the other direction. Overall, the people working at the hotel were reasonably nice, but not well-trained. This hotel is simply not well-managed. I would not recommend it to anyone, especially if staying for longer than one night.
