Dear Lawrence B:We are extremely sad to read your review as we went above and beyond to honor all your groups requests such as early breakfast times and late check out without charges. The first order of business was to check out our log book for guest complaints and there was no complaints of room odor, which if we would have been notified we could of corrected or switched rooms for you. We in no way want a guest have to sleep with their windows wide open. So please know in the future we would be happy to assist you.The log book did indicate that we lost several rooms due to guests checking out early. The reason for the lost revenue was the hockey teams playing hockey in the hallways. It was noted several times in the book that parents were asked to have their kids stop playing and kids were also asked to stop. We have this in place for numerous reasons and the number one reason is safety. We take the safety of our guests very serious and work hard to ensure everyone has an enjoyable, comfortable stay.Wishing you Happy Travels! « hide

We are glad that you found the second room you were assigned to, comfortable.I first want to apologize for the problem you experienced in the room you were first assigned to at check in. Upon reading your review, I went through the housekeeping sheets along with speaking to the housekeeper to see where the problem was. It was human error on the front desk clerk, they forgot to put the room out of order due to the fact someone had smoked in the room. The State of Michigan has a no smoking policy that does effect hotel rooms as well. We truly do our best to police the issue, you may have even noticed on the registration form that we charge a $150 recovery fee if the guest smokes in the room. As for the folks that were in the lobby, please understand it is public space and unless it is a hazard and/or disruptive to other guests, we really can't say anything. Now, with that being said we are going to use your review during our next staff meeting to discuss how we could have handled the matter in a way that would have been fair to all guests.We truly hope that you will reconsider and stay with us again in the future.Happy Travels! « hide
