“Spacone Room 315”

My son and I were In town for an 18U AAA hockey showcase. We requested late check out Saturday, 09/28/13 and the gentleman at the front desk said we could have until 5 PM. This was wonderful as we were up at 6AM, at the rink at 7AM and our next game was not until 5PM. Additionally, we had a 4 hour ride home after the 5PM game. While I was trying to rest, a woman from house keeping came to our room FOUR times, each time opening the door, insisting there was no information regarding our late checkout. On her final visit, she informed me we had to be out of room by 1PM or would be charged another full day. I tried to relay my conversation with the front desk to her and certainly did not appreciate her attitude - she treated me with disbelief. Why in the world would we continue to stay in the room without prior authorization, subjecting ourselves to embarassment and another day's fee??? However, Mary, the young lady at the front desk, called our room, I relayed the information to her and she confirmed it with the gentleman who approved the late check out. Mary was very polite and when I told her I would vacate the room as soon as possible, she assured me there was no need to rush. Why wouldn't house keeping have waited until the front desk spoke with me to determine the situation? On a smaller scale, one of the drawers in the chest of drawers came all the way out when opened and we could not get it back on track, we left it as is, anticipating when house keeping cleaned our room the next day, they would alert maintenance and have it repaired. That did not happen, the room was cleaned and the drawer was left as it was. My son finally managed to get the drawer back on track and closed. Also, the iron was broken. The base that holds the retractable cord was broken off and hanging, making ironing a nuisance. Not a big deal, but inconvenient, I did not report the broken iron. I will say the hotel was surprisingly quiet with all the hockey families staying there and it was clean. Again, the front desk staff were polite and friendly. My poor review relates strictly to the ONE woman from house keeping.
