“poor customer service”

  , Detroit
This was my 1st time staying at Baymont which is a very nice and clean hotel. It was also my 1st trip with my dog. I called on my arrival day to verify my reservation and told the person that I had a dog and she said no problem and that the rates were $10.00 more for a dog. I arrived and checked in and went to an event for my daughter. When i got back I was confronted by the desk clerk -Ali who in a stern tone told me that "your dog has been barking for 3 hrs and that someone in the room next door was complaining. I have been trying to call you but you did not answer. She went to tell me that i needed to "silence" my dog. Then stated that she did not know that I had a dog and that I owed another 10.00 She really made me feel bad for multiple reasons. I told her that I told them that I had a dog when I called for reservation and didn't realize that I had not been charged for the dog but I dont have any problem in paying the $10.00. I felt as if she were accusing me of not notifying them that i had a dog- which was not correct. I did not bring my dog to the front desk when I checked in as I didn't think I had to. The main thing is how she made me feel - I looked up hotels that were dog friendly. I'm sure my dog is not the 1st one to bark in a hotel. When I asked her about that she said that the hotel also puts out roudy people. I was truly offended and shaken up. I was afraid that if my dog barked again during the night that i would be put out. When i asked for her name she gave it to me but refused to give me her last intial. She told me that was unecessary. it was a very bad experience. I expected a dog friendly hotel to be more understanding/helpful. to tell me to silence my dog-i don't know how to do that- but perhaps my room could have been moved or the person in the next room. i don't know-all i know is that i didn't feel welcome.
