“DO NOT BOOK THROUGH A TRAVEL WEBSITE”

I booked my room through Expedia.com. 2 other guys that I was working with booked the same type of room, and were getting it for $20 a night less because they were getting the rate for working at the local Power Plant which we were all working at. I told the woman at the desk when I checked in and she said there was nothing I could do because I booked through Expedia. I talked to a manager the next day and she also told me there was nothing she could do, but she probably could have changed it if she had known when I checked in. I told her that I made the clerk aware when I had checked in, and the manager said that the clerk didn't have the authority to do anything, but if she (the manager) would have been on duty, she probably could have changed it, but by then she informed me it was too late. She also explained that Expedia's policy was what would prevent the change. I called Expedia, and was told they could issue a cancellation, but the hotel would have to call them. I informed the manager, and she said she didn't have time at the moment, but would call and let me know what she found out by 5:00 pm. I never heard back from her. When I went back down to the desk to check, I was told "Like I said, Expedia won't cancel the room" The front desk was absolutely no help, so I called the corporate office, and was told that the situation needed to be handled by the front desk at the hotel. I told the operator that they were not being helpful, and was told again that there was nothing she could do, it needed to be handled by the hotel that I was staying at.Even though I learned a lesson not to book through a travel site, the staff at the Baymont Inn Port Huron was absolutely no help, and I wish I would have gotten the name of the blonde woman at the front desk that was usually working in the morning to leave in this review. She was rude on top of being no help what so ever!
