“Large dead bug in bed + more”

  , Lansing
I have stayed here at least twice before in the last 18 months. My daughter is going to attend K College, and we came to spend some extra time to explore the city before she starts. The first night, we discovered too late that we had moist bath towels (just in the bathroom) and a half-foot gap in the curtains that let powerful parking lot lights stream into the room all night. In the morning, after little sleep, I pulled back the covers to find a large, dead bug in the sheets with us. The second night we were in a different room, of course. The air conditioner made an awful noise and the coffee pot was filthy with obvious food remnants from someone's soup. (The front desk staff also saw this when I took it down, and replaced it about 45 minutes later). The carpeting in both rooms was sticky and filthy. The breakfast food had problems, as well, with the juice machine not fully functioning, the waffle mix leaving soggy (undone) waffles, and light grey sausage patties that looked/tasted uncooked. These are just the most notable issues, but certainly not all of them. This place has gone downhill in the last year. Believe it or not, I have to be really bothered to complain. Yes, the beds are hard as rocks, which is terrible for bad backs, but that's a common hotel issue. I don't want to spend $150 on a night's sleep, so I don't expect any luxury, but this was a disgusting experience. If an overnight stay is offered, it must at least be clean! I can't recommend that anyone stay here, except maybe the construction workers that are regulars, who seem to spend a lot of time chatting with the front desk staff. Why should I want to be in this environment again?
