“I received a call from this hotel 1.5 hrs before we were...”

I received a call from this hotel 1.5 hrs before we were due to arrive (she called at 2:30 PM) informing me that they had a "mishap" and offered to put us up in Best Western instead. I immediately said No because the Best Western in this town is AWFUL!!!! When I asked if we could get a hotel in a nearby town she said she wasn't sure about other hotels (even though I had two I told her about) and she said never mind she'll make it work. When I asked if they were overbooked or what (because now I was nervous) she said they had 2 rooms go offline. She then said to never mind (again) and she would move someone else. She started out very kind and apologetic, and ended up somewhat exasperated and "put out". Our stay ended up okay....hotel is very outdated and in need of some TLC however.
