“Terrible Experience”

When we arrived on a Friday afternoon we asked for a non-smoking room and also asked for a room that hadn't had any pets in it recently. My wife is allergic to dogs and cats and is very sensitive to smoke. The lady at the desk said we could have the V.I.P. room which she said was never a smoking room or had ever had pets in it. When we entered our room the smoke smell was overwhelming. I went back to the front desk and the lady said the smell wasn't smoke but was new carpet that had just been installed. I know the smell of new carpet and this was not that kind of smell. She also said several people had complained about the smell. My wife said since we were only there for one night, she would deal with it, so we stayed. The room was awful. The big chair and ottoman in the room were very old and when I sat in it, I felt things crawling on my neck and back. I did not sit there the rest of the stay. I sleep with a c-pap machine and when I tried the plug it in, the electrical socket sent out a huge spark. The socket wasn't flush with the wall. This was our wedding anniversary and my wife just wanted to go somewhere and relax and go swimming. The biggest disappointment for her was when we went to the pool and found it closed and padlocked. We could not believe the pool was closed in the middle of the summer. There was no sign at the check-in desk saying the pool was closed. If there had been, I would have gone somewhere else. It was the one thing my wife was so looking forward to since we don't have a pool at home. This is a Wyndham property and we have always had excellent experiences with Wyndham. This however, is a disgrace to the Wyndham name.
