“Family stay overnight---not looking for "Vegas Experience"”

  , Fort Huachuca
We knew we would need to stay the night in Vegas but didn't really want the Vegas Strip experience. This hotel was far enough off the beaten path but close to the airport/highway. It felt like a safe location and was clean.Pros:Indoor pool in Jan. Most hotels had outdoor pools and were closed. We knew we would come in late and leave pretty early. The pool was indoors and open 24/7. Our kids were able to swim and burn off some energy! The rooms were clean but simple. This was NOT the "Vegas flash", but an affordable, clean, safe hotel. Staff was polite and gave suggestions on a place to eat while avoiding the crowds.Room was a little noisy, we were right next to the laundry room and a loud family that slammed doors...but it was not annoyingly so.cons: Noisy pool area. Everything echoed! The pool was about waist deep and perfect for kids but I had a headache after listening to the screaming kids that were already there. My kids and I ditched after only 30 min...too loud!breakfast was standard hotel fare, but the eggs ran out and they took a long time to restock. There were very few places to sit, the lobby and a tiny meeting room adjacent to the food. The food wasn't great but they had the basics and everything in the food area looked clean. The worst part? A cockroach greeted me in the morning when I opened the bathroom door. The room didn't look dirty and I didn't see signs of neglect or nasty remnants of former guests....but it still creeped me out. i brought up the cockroach issue to the front desk and they said the manger was not in...promised to have her email or call. Never heard another thing...I guess the manager figured that I already left and it didn't matter.
