When we arrived at the hotel, a worker was smoking immediately outside the front door. The front door had a handwritten sign, "Please use other door." This was not a good start. When we arrived inside, the sign at the front desk apologized that the clerk had to step away from the desk and would be back shortly. When she arrived, she was able to find our reservation and check us into our room without any difficulty. Then it started to get strange ... She said, "I'm going to go up to the room with you to make sure everything is okay." This was not said in a hospitable manner, but in the way that says, "She expects something to be wrong." As we headed to the elevator, she tells us that the ice maker doesn't work and the vending machines will eat dollar bills. GREAT! When we get up to the room, she has a hard time turning on the light and mentions that she has not worked here very long. The room is less than impressive (dirty/dingy/unpleasant), but she seems perfectly happy with the room. She says that the room "has not been rented in awhile ... so i just wanted to make sure it was okay." We decide that we are only staying one night and I want to get the kids to the heated pool. When we get to the pool, the black steps have a great deal of graffiti, the walls are filthy and the atmosphere is simply disgusting. We head back to the room and notice that the walls seem dirty ... then we notice that some wallpaper is stapled to the wall! Carpet is stapled to the wall and floor. As we look at it more, it seems like the room has water damaged on the ceiling and some wallpaper is newer. We can tell because 3 or 4 sheets of paper are not as dirty. We finally got into bed and then a refrigerator truck parks outside our window. I called down to the front desk. The male clerk did have the patrons move the truck. THANK YOU! The bed sank in the middle. The water pressure in the bathroom was good. The pool heat was good. On the way out, the clerk said, "I hope you had a nice stay.". I responded, "Not really." To that, he responded, "Oh ... well, have a good day." I would not recommend this hotel. « less
