“Facility needs some upkeep”

  , Libertyville
Despite the staff being extremely accommodating and friendly, I would not recommend this hotel. We chose it blindly based on price and location but were not happy about the elevator not working and rooming on the 3rd floor with our two young boys and having to haul everything up and down the stairs. The room, well honestly it smelled like bad body odor. We really were not in the room long enough to even want to raise an issue, but then the TV did not work and the woman at the desk, who apparently was alone, was nice enough to come up to see if she determine the problem, but maintenance was not available until the morning and we were leaving anyways that day. Breakfast was great, the lobby and pool were nice but the whirlpool was also not working. Kind of a bummer. I cannot blame any of this on the staff, as they are not responsible for repairing these things themselves. I think ownership needs to pay a little closer attention to the state of repair of the hotel and it would be a fine hotel. Not entirely related to the hotel, but the folks at the Keokuk Tourist Bureau who have offices off of the lobby were so extremely nice to us and our kids and very helpful helping us make arrangements for our geode hunting adventure and making suggestions about things to see, that it made our visit entirely a happier experience.
