“Overpriced experience to never stay at a Super 8 again.”

I am glad I learned a $90.00 lesson, to never stay at a Super 8 (for sure in Boone, IA) but also if the chain motel has the same layout. The room is definitely overpriced for the amenities that it lacks. The government rate was 89.00, however the regular rate is 129.00? Way overpriced for this place. In hindsight, my car would not have been a bad option. The room smelled of musty stagnant water, and since the construction of the 1st/ground floor is sunken in 1/2 way, there must be water damage somewhere. The sheets on the bed were smelly, like the same musty smell in the room. The towels in the bathroom were dirty. The alarm clock did not work, luckily the morning wake-up call did work (the only high point of the stay). The floors and walls are not insulated at all. I could hear the man next to me snoring at night....and the people above, I could hear their conversations, TV, and them walking from point to point in the room. This stay is honestly by far, the worst motel (hotel is a stretch) I have ever had in my lifetime - Howard Johnson in Toledo, Ohio had the top spot until this stay at the Sucky 8. I think between the smell of the room, the ultra-thin walls, the broken alarm clock and the light when you enter does not turn on in room 115, the dirty towels, the out of date look, and the poor breakfast quality (the cereal was stale) and bananas were borderline rotten (very brown) I can say that this Super 8 should be bull-dozed down and you should start over.
