“One night stay with 10 1/2 month old”

The hotel was very welcoming and clean. I was offered a soup/salad bar when I arrived. The room was clean but had an overpowering scent/cleaning smell. I'm now wondering if it was to cover up the smell of pets. I requested a quiet area since I was traveling with my baby, by myself, and didn't want her sleep to be disrupted by random noises. At about 9pm I heard dogs (plural) barking nearby. I would have called the front desk, but my baby was sleeping and that would just wake her. Luckily, she didn't wake and I just had to deal with the noise. My biggest question is how does the staff decide where to put people with pets. I wish they had a floor or area and definitely wouldn't be put by a person requesting a "quiet" area. The next morning I was going to mention the dogs if they asked how my stay was. They didn't ask, so I didn't feel like complaining. The breakfast in the AM was great. Well stocked, hot, fresh and good assortment. The hotel is great overall, minus the pet noise and room odor.
