“Property needs attention”

I would have loved to have been a mystery shopper at this property. From the moment that I walked through the door, I could tell that management of the property was seriously lacking. The desk clerk was on the phone, and ignored me other than glancing up occasionally. I went to the room which was adequately furnished. It had a computer in the room which was a plus. However, the furniture was in dire need of dusting and being cleaned. The keyboard had food (?) and other unknown matter between the keys. Dust was visible between the keys also, and under the "modem". The computer monitor was greasy looking and streaked. This prompted me to look under the desk. There were small pieces of paper next the wall along with dust and other debris. It didn't appear that the room had been given a thorough vacuuming. Feeling uncomfortable about the cleanliness of the room, I went shopping and bought cleaner, paper towels and disinfectant wipes. I cleaned every surface in the room that I thought that I would be touching. I sprayed down the vanity in the bathroom, the tub, the faucets and the toliet. And YES, there was filth on the paper towel that I used to clean with.Later that day in the lobby, I noticed children playing on the two computer that are located in the lobby next to the front door. Later, these same children kept running in and out of the door that was the access door to the check-in desk and the desk clerk's office area. I strongly feel that the clerk had their family "hanging out" at the hotel while they were on duty. The children were there for at least two hours. Then they left. While the hotel was convenienlty located, I feel that it needs attention and is not professionally run. Changes to the desk clerks and the cleaning staff need to be made. Either that or they need to be properly trained to run your property professionally so that the public feels welcome staying there.
