“It has gone downhill”

We have stayed at this hotel for 3 years in a row during the ACL festival. The first two years, the place was clean and comfortable with a decent and satisfying free breakfast. While never being a 4 or 5 star hotel (which was not expected at this pricepoint), it was reliable and served the purpose of being a conveniently located, clean place to crash at the end of a long day. Not this year. The hotel is visibly aging with what appear to be half hearted attempts at repair- walls with crumbling caulk and outlets hanging out. Dust and crumbs left over from the partial work dotted the old carpeted hallways from end to end. Rooms had a stale and dusty air quality. We were told by the front desk staff that in order to get a cab, we must download an app to our phone and hope for the best. Our friend's room had a dirty washcloth lying on the floor upon check in. The breakfast selection was weak and clearly not planned for the amount of people that such a weekend brings in (though a well executed hotel would have increased their number for a completely booked weekend). Overall, it was a disappointing and gross experience. I would not stay here again unless they cleaned it up and made it once again presentable as a place where people pay money to spend the night.
