“Not a lot of bang for your buck”

I stayed here after scouring Expedia and Hotels.com for a good deal. Honestly, there weren't many options for good deals at this particular time (a weekend during a peak summer month) in the Pensacola area. The room cost $100/night, which I think was a standard price for this place, but I think it was worth something closer to $75/night. It was your basic motel layout, with a microwave and mini-fridge provided and no frills. It was relatively clean, which is all I really ask for in a hotel, aside from the hair in the tub, the moldy smell of the room, and the fact that my bathing suit never dried after having laid it out all night. Basically it was damp as all get-out in there which was probably due to a bad air conditioner. I also only had 3 pillows on a king sized bed, which was totally fine, it just made me feel a little less symmetrical that night. I will say that they called to make sure the room was fine (I said it was) and they also offered extra towels the next morning which I thought was nice. Oh, and there was breakfast. No Florida-shaped waffles, but NBD. The woman assisting with breakfast was also super charming and friendly, and made me feel a little less lonely as I poured Raisin Bran and coffee into my mouth. If they didn't make their employees wear hospital scrubs, I would have felt right at home. I really don't think uniforms need to be fancy, I just think it's sad that she has to basically wear this label that deems her as working class, thus creating an ever bigger social gap in the class system. Granted, my partial-pajama get-up was hardly attractive, let alone classy, but I hate to think that she's there working while I'm pissing away my day. It actually made me feel bad for the both of us. I hope she gets a promotion and a better uniform, because someone who works as hard as she does deserves it, and I mean that.
