“Price right, room ok, Bad customer service”

I got a room with the internet special price which was almost the lowest in the area offering an airport shuttle, #1 on my list of criteria after safety. The room was ok but located just past the lobby and near the elevator - noisy till 1am. Because of weather my flight was late and when I called the hotel to notify that I would be arriving between 10 and 11pm, I was told "no problem." Twice I called, twice told ok. When I arrived at 10:50 and called from the gate, I was told I could not be picked up, I had to ask about alternatives and was given the name of cab company they have on contract - who was extremely nice and accommodating and gave me the hotel discount price. He even went into the lobby with me attempting to get a "pass" for hotel to pay for my trip. The lobby attendant was unfriendly when I checked in and when I went back to ask about the room. The following morning I asked to speak to the manager. After waiting 20 minutes, including breakfast which was very good, the manager remained unavailable. The attendant relayed to me that nothing could be done. Because the shuttle was the primary reason I chose the hotel and because I called twice to confirm my arrival would not be a problem, the experience was disappointing and left me angry. The room issue became secondary since I was safe but the room was not great. I might try a Baymont in another area but not this location again.
