“What is wrong with this mattress...?”

We spent 2 weeks traveling down and up the east coast for or long awaited and highly researched family vacation. Along the way we stayed at 5 different hotels from 1-7 nights. Baymont Inn and Suites was by far the worst of them all. Walk into the lobby and you think you are in a 5 star resort. Walk thru the lobby out the back doors to the rooms and it's a whole different world. The unkept landscaping in the pool area was depressing. With 3 adults and 2 children in our party, we stayed in a Kidsuite which appeared larger on paper than it actually was. The twin bed in the room had a mattress on it that I would not have let my dog sleep on, let alone my children or mother. The mattress had ripped seams and a stain that I'm afraid to guess the origin of. When we brought it up to housekeeping/maintenance, it was easier to move us to another room than to bring in a different mattress. Although it was inconvenient at the time, it proved to be a better choice because the new room was much cleaner anyway. We were supplied the sheets for the bunk and twin beds but had to make the beds ourselves each night. With 5 people registered in the room it was a daily chore to hunt down enough towels for showers. We got the standard 2 towels three days and zero towels on the last two days. The breakfast, or morning cattle call, was a joke. The countertop was a mess even though the staff stood behind the counter watching you go down the line. The choice of food was limited to breads, cereals and pre-made processed baked goods. With the 2 hour breakfast window the lines were long and the tables full. We ended up eating at the McDonald's across the street towards the end of the week. As for the free shuttle service to the parks, they have conditions. Late departure and early return times as well as only allowing umbrella type strollers on the shuttle. We ended up driving to each park daily, even though one of the main reasons for choosing this hotel was the free shuttle service to save on parking fees. This was our first and subsequently last time staying at a Baymont Inn and Suites. I hope all Wyndham owned properties are not run like this.
