“NO EGGS!”

  , Melbourne, Fl
We stay at this hotel (which used to be a Holiday Inn Express) on our trips between New Hampshire and Florida. We've been staying here for the last 10 years on a semi-annual basis if not more frequently. It is always an easy ride into the Central Florida East Coast on the last day of our trip down. The area (Manning, SC) is packed with lots of restaurants as well as a Super Walmart within 2 miles of the hotel. Since it has become The Baymont (read Wyndham), the level of maintenance seems to have dropped off somewhat. On our stay prior to this one, we had a toilet that wouldn't flush and a door lock that barely locked. There was also a floor lamp with a cut cord (no plug!) On this trip, when we got to breakfast (1 half hour after they opened), there were NO eggs which is the main staple of the breakfast bar. After notifying the breakfast area custodian, we waited over 5 minutes to get eggs. In addition to the wait, they eggs were NOT even warm!!?? And as long as we are being picky, the "soft & chewy" cookies at reception have been, and continue to be, HARD as nails! All of the above aside, we usually get a good night's rest here and, when using the travel coupons, the rate is reasonable (about $50+tax). So, as they say, you get what you pay for, though the "FREE" breakfast can be less than desirable.
